We believe that appropriate behavioural support to children with autism is an essential
component of a synergistic intervention programme. The term “behaviour” is to be
taken in the broadest sense, covering all aspects of behaviour, including language
and communication and other skills the child may display. By behavioural support
we aim to reinforce the development of socially meaningful behaviours whilst acknowledging
the child’s developing personality. We would aim to teach new skills in different
learning contexts, ranging from child-led play to more focused structured work as
appropriate. A key focus of our intervention is to show a positive, accepting, attentive
and encouraging attitude towards children with autism. ATT Learning involves the
expertise of a psychologist with expertise in Applied Behaviour Analysis.
ATT Learning staff can provide individual home visits to give in depth advice on
priority issues as required by each individual family unit. We can also visit your
child’s school to support the development of skills and advise on structuring of
the environment to maximise the potential for learning. ATT Learning staff supervises
highly individualised full or part time home teaching programmes based on the guiding
principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis/Verbal Behaviour (ABA/VB), including the
transition of learning from home to school.
