He retired in 1998 to concentrate on the”autism enigma”', following the diagnosis of his grandson. He has organised many marches, demonstrations and petitions in a bid to raise awareness of the epidemic of autism sweeping the developed world. He has contributed to over 100 newspaper articles, and made countless radio broadcasts and television appearances. He is the founding chairman of Action Against Autism, now known as Autism Treatment Trust. Today he focuses on providing a platform for autism treatments that use the biomedical approach, and on encouraging the scientific community to embrace innovative research into the condition. Trustees David Adamson Accountant- to be completed soon. Mr Hamish Mair BSc MBA Hamish Mair has been a director of ATT since May 2007. He is an investment manager by profession managing the private equity team of a leading Scottish fund management group. He is a graduate of the universities of Aberdeen and Edinburgh and is the parent of an autistic child. Hamish is a School Councilor and formerly a school board member of the Edinburgh special school St Nicholas. Mrs. Louise Tollin Louise Tollin is a parent of two children with an ASD diagnosis. Louise has been very proactive to assist the health and education of her children, and is providing very valuable support with fund raising to ATT. Staff Dr Lorene Amet DEA, DipBiotechnol, D Phil Dr Lorene Amet is trained as a neuroscientist (brain development, brain ischemia and epilepsy) and has worked in Edinburgh, Oxford and Princeton Universities before being fully involved with home-education and treatment of her son Lloyd who is affected by autism. Over the past three years she has organised several conferences and events on autism in Edinburgh. Dr Amet has been involved in several research projects and is currently studying for a Masters in Special Education - Autism at the University of Birmingham where her work has already been published. In the last year and half, Lorene has worked as Principal Scientist at ATT and has worked heartily for the development of the charity. Mrs. Huda Taynaz HND in I.T & internet Application Development Come from a mixed background of English and Arabic with a British mother and a Libyan father. Spent most of my life living between the uk, Libya and the middle east where I met so many different and interesting people. Graduated in 2007 from a Canadian College "College of the North Atlantic" in Doha-Qatar. Moved to Edinburgh in 2008 after I got married and been working for ATT since August 2009. Consultants Marion Bowles SRD State Registered Dietitian based near Edinburgh in Scotland, specializing in environmental and food allergies and other chronic illness where close attention to individual dietary needs can bring results. Consultant to ATT. Miss Risca Solomon BSc, BCABA Risca began working as an Applied Behaviour Analysis therapist in 2001. In 2006, she began the PGDip/MSc Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour at the Welsh Centre of Learning Disabilities, Cardiff University. Risca gained the Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCABA) in March 2008 and is currently supervised by a BCBA. During her work as an Applied Behaviour Analysis therapist and more recently as a BCABA, she has attended many conferences and workshops by leading behaviour analysts. Dr Lynsey Herdman PhD, BSc Dr Lynsey Herdman began working as an Applied Behaviour Analysis therapist in 2006. Dr Herdman gained her qualifications from Swansea University. She graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2003 and with a PhD in Developmental Psychology in 2007. Recently in March 2009, Dr Herdman completed the MSc in Behaviour Analysis. Dr Herdman currently consults to families and supervises several ABA programs. She is currently supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst. Dr. Emma Gillet DC MCC MMCA GCC, REG NO 00856 Emma qualified in 1987 from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and has been in private practice since. Emma has taken post graduate training within Cranio-Sacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute and combines this seamlessly with the McTimoney Technique of chiropractic manipulation, to deliver a complete treatment to her patients. She is fascinated with the scope of the chiropractic health care system and has refined her work further to include the treatment of children from birth. She has undertaken training in this field by studying the first year of a Master of Science Degree in Chiropractic Paediatrics. Emma has also been involved within the McTimoney College, where she taught clinical paediatrics to third and forth year undergraduates. Her work with Children has included treating those with many disorders and dysfunctions such as Cerebal Palsy, Global Delay, Congenital and Genetic disorders and Autistic Spectrum. Dr. Doaa El Hadary, MBBCh, Dip.Obs.&Gynae, MRCOG. Challenge Clinic Director, Cairo Egypt. Certified Berard AIT Practitioner Dr. El Hadary is a medical practitioner and parent of a child with autism. Dr. El Hadary is trained a Certified Berard Auditory Integration Training (AIT) consultant. She has also some experience of modifying teaching materials and elementary school curriculum to suit children with autism integrating mainstream education. Dr. El Hadary has worked closely with occupational therapists trained in Sensory Integration and utilises sensory based equipment and activities to enhance the benefit of AIT. Dr Cem Kinaci, MD Cem Kinaci is a medical practitioner and research specialist in Nuclear Medicine (MRI and SPECT brain scans) and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Cem has been treating children with autism since 2005. Cem works in Istanbul at Senior Physician at Alaman Hastanesus- Camlica University Hospital Group, Nuclear Medicine Department. |
