Excellent news for ABA in Scotland! Well done to Christine Mahony! SCOTTISH AUTISM TOOLBOX – GOOD NEWSINACCURATE GUIDANCE ON ABA IS TO BE COMPLETELY REWRITTEN The Scottish Government has deleted a key section of the Autism Toolbox on its web site, which contained seriously flawed information on ABA.
The Scottish Government then invited independent experts and international authorities on autism education to review the document. These experts agreed that the information provided on ABA was indeed flawed, but further, they were of the opinion that this also was true of many of the other interventions mentioned in the Toolbox. They strongly recommended to the government that the whole ‘Overview of Interventions’ be withdrawn and rewritten. No Scottish local authority or its employees may now quote the Autism Toolbox in making decisions about ABA or VB programme funding. |
