Dear Parents,
We opened our clinic in Edinburgh in April 2006 and have since arranged the comprehensive testing of over 300 children. Most of them are now on individualised treatment programmes. You can read some of the testimony reports here.
For parents who are distant from Edinburgh we offer a telephone first consultation with Dr Amet (1 hour approximately). You can, of course, visit the clinic if you wish, however even if you live in Edinburgh it would not be necessary to bring your child to the first consultation as initially there is a lot of information to assimilate, particularly about the tests we require, the laboratories we use, and funding possibilities etc.
The tests we recommend are carried out at selected laboratories in Scotland, England, France, the USA and occasionally Italy.
You will receive full information on the logistics of having the tests carried out and you will be supplied with test kits and guidance. The costs will be explained to you in detail. Many families have accessed full funding for our programme of testing and treatment via a charitable trust with whom we are associated. Further, most parents have been able to have some of the tests carried out by their local GP and NHS trust, thereby reducing the overall expenditure.
After the tests are completed and Dr Amet has studied the results you can then visit the ATT clinic for a second consultation (4 hours) with your child and for complementary support to learning, communication and behaviour with our behavioural psychologist Annie MacDonald.
If you would like to arrange an appointment or talk about how our consultations and testing are conducted, please phone the clinic (0131 558 7444) during normal hours, 9.30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. The clinic is staffed by volunteers on most days.
Before you have a consultation, Dr Amet prefers that the Parental Questionnaire is downloaded from our website, completed, and sent to the clinic at Autism Treatment Trust, 29A Stafford Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH3 7BJ.
We are a not for profit charity.
We look forward to meeting you and your child.
